How to Improve Concentration Daily

We all have different distractions to contend with in our lives.
Some are easier to ignore than others.
But if you put the proper effort into planning your activities, you can improve your concentration and focus on any task you must perform.

Focus your efforts on each task you tackle.

The three things you can start doing today to improve concentration are:

  1. Determine your purpose
  2. Set a time limit
  3. Drown out distractions

1. Decide what it is that you want to accomplish

How many times have you started something without really knowing what you expected to accomplish? It is difficult to know when we have reached the end, or even if we are going in the right direction, if we don’t know what it is we are trying to do.
Start with a list of tasks that you need to perform and choose one that you are going to do now. A great way to generate the list is to make a habit of reviewing each day before going to bed and writing a list of tasks for the next day.
With your task sorted out, and a clear end point in mind, you are ready to move forward.

2. Don’t let time slip by

Set yourself a time limit for how long you are going to work on your task. By allotting a specific time frame, you are setting a in your mind a limit to the the task.
Use a timer to make sure you keep yourself in check. You can download an app for just about any device or you can use a watch or alarm clock. Just use something that will notify you when your time is up so you can set it and forget it.
Don’t go over 1 hour for anything you are trying to accomplish. Our bodies need to move to keep blood flowing. So take a short break every hour.
If the particular work you are tackling isn’t complete after one hour, take your break, reset your timer and go at it some more.

3. Don’t let the small things pester you

Leave your phone off and log out of any social media sites you frequent. If anyone is trying to reach, they will still be there when you are done.
You could also listen to some soothing music while you work. Something instrumental that will drown out any odd noises like car alarms or sirens that could distract you.
By drowning out any little distracting noises, you will be able to focus more on the work at hand.
Use these three tips to get yourself set to improve concentration on anything you have to get done.
